Melissa is the director of Compassionate Healthcare.
- Her background reflects an inspiring dedication to making a difference in the lives of others. With extensive experience, particularly in trauma work, suicide prevention, and strength-based recovery. All of which highlights her commitment to empowering individuals through education and client-focused support built on respect, authenticity and collaboration.
- Professional Certifications include: Mental Health Peer Work (Cert IV), Advanced Training in Intentional Peer Support, Crisis Intervention, Mental Health Care & Trauma Informed Practice, Certificate in Domestic Violence Support, Child Wellbeing & Protection. BaTDev
- Her expertise and passion for promoting equality, mental health and wellbeing is from over 20 years of experience working within not-for-profit, community, inpatient mental health roles and crisis support.
- She enjoys facilitating strength-based recovery groups that are inclusive and provide community connection.
- Her motivation each day is to create a meaningful impact with individuals and the communities she serves.
Meet our team
Deana is an accredited mental health social worker with postgraduate qualifications in mental health practice.
- She has over 20 years of experience in non-profit and community mental health roles and is comfortable with many different presentations.
- Her specialist skills include supporting trauma work, eating disorders/body image issues, loss and role transitions and suicide prevention and postvention.
- Deana takes a strengths-based approach to her work and brings her values of empathy, compassion and non-judgment to her interactions with clients.
- Using a person-centred framework, she prioritises collaboration and utilises an eclectic mix of evidence-based therapies.
- Deana enjoys working together with an individual's strengths and uses kindness and humour to create a safe space for individuals to explore their world.
